La Roche Posay Effaclar 3- Step Anti-Blemish System

As part of La Roche Posays biggest Launch this year I was fortunate enough to be sent their brand new Effaclar 3-step Anti Blemish system to trial before it went live in boots and online.

I'm such huge fan of their products, especially the effaclar duo + so I was preeetty excited to get my hands on this.

The kit comes with a purifying gel cleanser to reduce sebum, a clarifying toner to reduce the appearance of pores and last but not least the holy grail product that is the effaclar duo + which helps to reduce blemishes and the appearance of red and brown marks. These products have been deemed appropriate even for the most sensitive or acne prone skin.

How To Use

Step 1: Cleanse

Work a small amount of cleanser into damp face to create a lather and massage in circular movements. Rinse off with clean water. I tend to use a hot flannel to rinse off for extra cleansing and exfoliation.

Step 2: Tone

Apply to a cotton pad and sweep all over the face avoiding the eye area.

Step 3: Correct and Moisturise

Apply thin layer to entire face or problem areas, this can be used before applying make up as it doubles up as a great primer. Take care again to avoid eye area as this stings!

The Results

After 6 weeks of use I am gutted to say that the 3 step system really didn't work for my skin. I put emphasis on my skin as I don't aim to trash talk products on my blog, It may work for others particularly those who do suffer with oily or spot prone skin. But unfortunately the cleanser has had quite a drying affect on my skin to the point where I experienced tightness and stinging. I wonder however, if this may be prevented if used in combination with the Effaclar H multi compensating moisturiser? The toner  was okay but had very little noticeable impact. Both products however did successfully remove all my make-up so I guess that is one up side.
I'm still loving the effaclar duo + for spots and problem areas mainly as opposed to an all over face cream as for that I prefer something a bit richer. This is something I will continue to purchase again and again but sadly it's a no from me to the cleanser and toner.

I would like to say a big thank you to Mari for sending me the kit to trial. I always welcome trying new products, It was just unfortunate this time It didn't work miracles on my skin. If you wish to try it out for yourself the 3-step system is now available in boots for £32.50. That aside this isn't the end of my love affair with La Roche Posay products as I will continue to use my much treasured favourites

  1. I haven't tried any anti-blemish set yet although I was close to trying Proactiv and never did. That was great you wrote an honest review and you did it in such a classy way :) Love your blog!
