The Liebster Award

Bit of a different post today. I was nominated for the Liebster award by Eliza. I wasn't sure what it actually was until I read on her page but basically aiming to gain recognition for bloggers nominating them to answer 11 questions of their choosing. You then go on to choose 11 bloggers and your own set of questions.

  • You must link back to the person who nominated you
  • You must answer the 11 questions set by the blogger who nominated you
  • You must choose 11 bloggers to be nominated for the award, and they should have less than 200 followers
  • You must set 11 questions for your nominees to answer
  • You must notify all the bloggers you nominated

So without further a do, these are the questions that Eliza asked me....

1. Why did you start blogging?
I recently finished my degree in Zoology and since I've felt really lost and quite down as I'm struggling to find a job doing what I want to do. It was suggested to me to start a blog to keep me busy with my free time and so far I've really enjoyed it, especially when you see other people liking what you post and interacting with you.
 2. What is your favourite high end make-up brand and why?
Probably YSL as I absolutely love their foundation and concealer and they're lipsticks. I'm not a huge fan of Chanel product, with the exception of perfume, (sorry chanel fans!) as I tend to find the products I've used in the past quite drying.

3. What is your most worn lip product?
Currently my kate moss matte rimmel london lipsticks, they have such a gorgeous range of colour and are great quality for a bargain price.

4. What are 3 of your favourite beauty Blogs/YouTube channels?
Zoella (no surprise there) as shes a good all rounder, she does the make up, fashion but also some of the serious stuff and you gotta love someone who includes food in their monthly faves.
I love Tanya Burr for her make up tutorials and make up essentials.
And another favourite of mine is Jenna Marbles who I've been following for aaages, her videos are hilarious.

5. What is the worst make-up item you have ever bought and why?
I have to say the benefit oxygen foundation, I just found it really watery and it did nothing for my complextion at all. I was so disappointed when I tried it as I had very high hopes.

6. What is your favourite part of your daily make-up routine?
Probably my eye makeup as I love experimenting with different colours and trying out quite bold looks.

7. What was your favourite subject at school?
I loved art at school but I was never good enough to pursue it.

8. What product are you currently lusting after?
I'm in desperate need of some new mac shadows to brighten up my collection, I'm also yet to try Appocolips which everyone has been raving about. Bring on payday!

9. Which celebrity is your make-up/hair crush?
I once dyed and styled my hair including shaving the side of my head like Ellie Goulding cause I loved her hair but I've recently gone darker.

10. What colours are you most likely to wear for eyeshadow?
I either go for really neutral creams and browns or If I'm going out i'll do a real smokey eye.

11. Describe yourself in 3 words.
These ones are always so difficult but I've been told I'm endearing, I can be quite bluntly honest at times (not always a good thing) and witty.

I hope you enjoyed reading my answers to those. What would you answer to some of those questions?

My nominations for this are

My 11 questions are:

  1. If you were stuck on a desert island, what one beauty product could you not live without and why?
  2. What is your favourite drugstore product?
  3. What is your daily skincare routine (i.e cleansers, toners, moisturisers)?
  4. What is your favourite feature about yourself?
  5. If you could ban a fashion/clothing item from existence what would it be?
  6. If you made a bucket list, name one thing that would be on there.
  7. What is your ultimate fashion accessory?
  8. What part of your beauty routine do you find a chore to do?
  9. Who would you say is your style icon or someones fashion sense you admire?
  10. Name one of your favourite music artists or bands?
  11. What would be your dream job?

Have fun guys!

Songs I'm Loving

Hey guys!

Slightly different post this week.. Now as we're starting to see the first signs of the 'Great British summer', everyones getting outside, enjoying the sun and gearing up for festival season. So I thought I would share some songs with you that I've particularly enjoying the past few months. Some of them you will have most definitely heard unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past month and some you may not heard of.

When it comes to music I have quite varied taste and If there is a song I really really love I will play it on repeat until I get sick of it, which a lot of people hate but I can't help it!

So without further a do in no particular order, these are some of the songs I've been loving recently....

Mr Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz remix).
Mr Probz is a Dutch hip hop artist that from what I can gather has been going since around 2005 (I am no expert so do not quote me on that). I've heard a few of his songs but I absolutely fell in love with his latest release Waves, particularly the Robin Schulz remix as I think It gives It a bit more of a summery upbeat vibe. I don't believe there is an official video for this remix of the song but if you would like to give it a listen click here

Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines ft T.I and Pharrell
Shock horror, this song has come into my list. I first heard this track on iTunes when I was looking for some new songs to purchase and I played a little clip of the song and thought oh my god this is gonna be one of those songs you don't wanna love but you just do. It's definitely got a cheeky, sexy summer vibe and I'm listening to it alot alot recently. If you haven't already heard it, which would be mental because it's been everywhere, or fancy having a little dance in your room click here. I do believe this is the clean video as I didn't want to offend anyone, If you would however like to see semi naked girls with bits flying around, it is readily available on the internet.

Indiana - Bound
Indiana is a singer song writer from Nottingham in the UK, I tend to find she goes by Indiana the girl as typing Indiana into google or anywhere on the internet throws up loads of stuff about the American state. She is a relatively new artist on the scene although she did play at this years Glastonbury festival on the BBC stage. When I first heard Bound I was absolutely addicted. It's not really a what I'd say is an upbeat dance song but I guess I would still describe it as sexy as for some reason I associate the lyrics with the whole 50 shades of grey saga. Whether this was her intention or I just have a completely dirty mind, who knows! But her voice is as beautiful as her face and I would highly recommend downloading her new E.P Smoking Gun, If you would like to listen to Bound please do click here

Paramore - Still Into You
Paramore released their fourth studio album earlier this year In April and I'm a huge fan! I've loved Paramore ever since I heard the track Misery Business and began listening to the older stuff and followed them ever since. This album is certainly different from their past material and is a little more pop but I think its always nice when artists change it up a little bit. I also managed to bag tickets for their tour this year which I'm super excited about! Still into you is one of my favourite tracks from the album, I just think its so catchy and the lyrics are really cute. You can check out Haley in all her glory by following this link here.

The 1975 - Chocolate
I first heard the 1975 at the end of last year when they released their EP Sex. If I'm completely honest I didn't get that into them straight away but after hearing this tune from the EP music for cars earlier this year I was hooked. This was definitely one of those tracks I had on repeat for a little while and I still love it. I'm super excited to be seeing them at Reading this year as I completely missed out on all their gigs and I'm looking forward to their album release in September. If you haven't already check out this track here

Kodaline - Love Like This
Kodaline seem to have really caught on since the release of their album in a perfect world at the end of last month. I first got into them after hearing 'All I Want' from their self titled EP. Since then they haven't disappointed, and released some amazing tracks. High Hopes was definitely my track on repeat for a little while but I've slowly moved on to Love Like This. Please do check out their album if you haven't already as It's one of my favourite album releases this year and to hear this track just click here

Passenger - Let Her Go
This song is so beautiful, Mike Rosenberg just has the perfect folky voice! If I'm correct I think this song was actually released in July 2012 but for some crazy reason has only come into my life recently. His latest album also released last year All The Little Lights is one to get your hands on if like me you are slightly slow on the uptake with this one. To listen to this lovely track click here

City and Colour - The Way It Used To Be
Dallas Green has to be one of my all time favourite artists. I was very into Alexisonfire in their hay day and was lucky enough to attend their farewell gig last year which was amazing. I then discovered City and Colour after someone introduced me to them In my first year of Uni. Since then I've just been utterly obsessed and have all their albums and seen them live twice. His voice is like non other and his songs are truely beautiful. Early last month they released their fourth studio album the Hurry and the Harm which I've been listening to non stop. Although probably not my favourite album, it's of course worth a listen. The Way It Used To Be is one of my favourites and you can listen to it here

Bastille - Pompeii
Now I'm pretty sure you will have all heard of Bastille and if you haven't you need to get them In your life. I had Flaws on repeat for so long when it was released and eagerly anticipated the release of their album Bad Blood in March this year. Pompeii is certainly no exception from their catchy tunes and is my current fave. If you haven't already please please click here to listen and go out and buy their album because its pretty amazing.

Ellie Goulding - Only You
Now I'm pretty sure this song hasn't actually been released as a single yet but is my favourite on Ellie's latest album Halycon. When I first heard the album, I was really closed minded and was very much like this is no where near as good as Lights. On further listening I've completely changed my mind and I absolutely love it, in particular this track Only You. There is no official video released for this track yet, as I said I'm pretty confident It hasn't been released as a single yet and I'm not 100% sure if it will be but do give it a listen here

So these are just some of my favourites from the past few months, I hope you've enjoyed reading what I've been listening to. I'd love to know about your favourite tracks at the moment so please leave me a comment below.

Boots Haul!

Helloooo everyone, I was very naughty recently and went for a big spend in boots on payday much to the dismay of my bank balance and I thought I'd just share with you some of the things I bought.
Now let me start by saying there are probably no words to describe my love for boots, it's like some weird obsession. I get completely swept away by new products, 3 for 2's, the BOGOF's, I just love it. All the products in this haul except for the foundation were included in a 3 for 2 or buy one get one half price offer so I managed to save about £25.00 and collect a lot of those advantage card points!

So without further a do this is what I purchased....

Left to Right: Beautiful Skin eye makeup remover RP £8.50, Essential Moisture day cream for normal/dry skin RP £9.00, Beautiful Skin cleansing water normal/oily RP £9.00
Now if you shop at Boots as much as I do you are probably aware of the copius amounts of No.7 vouchers you can pick up after a shop. I know so many people who throw these away but I'm actually a big fan of No.7 products so I always make a point of holding on to them and seeing what discounts I can get when I'm in there. Currently all the No.7 skin care products are on 3 for 2 so I had a look and I found these. On the left is the eye make up remover, now I rarely purchase these and just rely on my cleansers but I forever wake up with panda eyes where I've missed little bits. I have already tried this and I really like it, for £8.50 it is a little pricey but a little goes a long way, it fully removes all eye makeup even waterproof, and was actually free in the deal as it was the cheapest item. The next one is the essential moisture day cream, I'm actually yet to try this product as I still haven't used up my other face creams. I decided on this one as I do tend to get a bit of a dry face from over doing the exfoliation occasionally so I will do a mini review once I've tried it. And finally I picked up the cleansing water for normal/oily skin, now I chose this because I liked the idea that it was a water rather than a cleansing cream which I've used before and found it tends to be a bit thick and takes ages to soak in. I much prefer the water, it takes off my make up really easily and leaves my skin feeling fresh.

Soap and Glory

Left to Right: Girligo body moisturising mist RP £6.50, Sugar Crush body scrub RP £8.00, Foam Call body wash RP £6.50
I know soap and glory gets reviewed a lot on beauty blogs so most of you will already know about their products. On the left is the Girligo moisturising body mist, this I havent tried before. I've read a few reviews that have described it as not a must have item but a nice one to have in your collection and I think I agree. It does smell amazing like all of the soap and glory products and It is really refreshing to spritz on the skin, it also appears to moisturise well so there are no real issues with the product it's just not a 'must have'. The next soap and glory buy is the sugar crush body scrub which I've purchased before and I adore it. It has a really strong punch of lime, smells gorgeous and leaves your skin feeling lovely and soft. Lastly is the Foam Call body wash, again this is one of the body washes I havent tried before and am yet to give it ago as I'm waiting to run out of my current body wash but again I'm sure I'll give it a mini review when I get round to using it.

Tony & Guy

Tony&Guy cleanse and nourish shampoo and conditioner for dry hair RP £5.99 each
Now I have heard great things about these bad boys, so I am super excited to try these. I've been resisting the urge like a weirdo as I've still got a lot of my shampoo left but I will definitely be letting you know how I get on as my hair is very hard to please!

Rimmel London

Left to Right: Kate Moss matte lipsticks in 107 and 110 RP £5.49,  Salon Pro by Kate nail polish in Soul Session RP £4.49
I am a huge fan of the Rimmel London Kate Moss range, especially the matte lipsticks. I picked these two as I am yet to have them in my collection  and I felt they were nice summery colours. The 107 reminds me of red wine and I've been wearing it a lot since I've bought it. The 110 is more of a coral/pink colour which I also love, I'd say it's probably more suited to day wear than the 107 if you're going for a more natural look but both are gorgeous and they smell of water melon. I know smell isn't really important in a lipstick but I feel this is a nice bonus! And on the right is the Salon Pro by Kate, this is a really lovely mink kind of colour which is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm useless when it comes to nails as I always knock them and get inpatient waiting for them to dry, but this was really quick drying and so far so good, no chipping!
Rimmel London Kate Moss matte lipsticks in 107 and 110 swatched.

Rimmel London volume flash scandaleyes mascara RP £6.99

Recently I ran out of my Clarins mascara which I wasn't a huge fan of so I decided to look for a high street brand and see how I got on. I picked up the Scandaleyes mascara, I have to admit I haven't used it long enough to give a decent review (It usually takes me a while to make a decision). So far I'm not wowed by this mascara and am slightly regretting not picking up the new flexi-brush, however saying that its not awful. The brush is really big to give that volume and it does do exactly that but it doesn't really appear to lift my eyelashes or make them look longer. It's also quite gloopy which I'm not massively keen on as I often find theres too much on the brush.

Yves Saint Laurent Teint Resist radience foundation in shade 7 RP £31.00
I mentioned this foundation a while a go in my everyday makeup post so I won't go on too much. This is probably my favourite high end foundation, as I've said before I love YSL makeup and its forever my high end go to. I re-purchased this product as my other one has started to struggle pumping out foundation indicating its on its way out, so I wanted to be prepared. I would highly recommend people to try this if they are looking for a full coverage foundation as it gives such a flawless look.

Nivea pearl and beauty anti-perspirant RP £2.10

Boots cosmetic oval pads RP £1.89
Last but not least, the essentials! I was in need of a new deoderant and haven't tried the Nivea pearl and beauty. To be honest I was drawn to this one because it looked quite cute and girly (for a deoderant). So far no complaints, it does the job and for £2.10 you can't go wrong. And I was running short of cosmetic pads so picked these up in the buy one get one half price. I like the big ones as they cover more of your face and you seem to get more of your moneys worth.

I hope you enjoyed my little haul, please tell me what you thought.. Have you tried any of these products? Or do you have any recommendations? I'd love to know so please leave me a comment!

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling 22...

Me being a Penguin

Hellooooo again, apologies for being a bit quiet this week but I'm back and thought I'd share with you what I've been up to.
It was my birthday Friday, which I had been dreading as I turned 22 which made me feel very old!

But my lovely boyfriend Jay made all that better by surprising me with a new camera and a day out at London Zoo.
Being a bit of a photgraphy novice Jay was on hand to show me the ropes and I think I've pretty much got the hang of it now.

As I've mentioned before I'm a huge mammal hugger and lovers of all creatures but I am ashamed to admit this was my first trip to London Zoo, (Zoology fail). But I had a fantastic day loosing my London Zoo virginity and would definitely go again, especially as it was so easy to get to. We just got the fast train from Cambridge to Kings Cross, then hopped on the tube to Camden and it was about a 10 minute walk to Regents Park. Whats even better is that if you travel by train entry is 2 for 1, so a right little bargain!

Here are some of the photos we took on the day, enjoy!...

These poison dart frogs reminded me of little avatars

How cute is this sloth?
